W3W: WHITE PANTS (or jeans)

Bring these baby’s out of that corner of your closet! It is officially the first weeks of June, and the weather is heating up! The weather here is only nice about 4 months out of the year, so there’s no time to waste.

Personally, I have never been a lover or hater of white pants. It’s a good addition to diversify your wardrobe, but not at all mandatory. I’ve had this pair for a couple of years now, and I can honestly say that I’ve worn them a handful of times. They’re not my favourite fit, but it’s hard for me to justify buying a new pair seeing as the jeans are a seasonal piece.

Jeans: RAG AND BONE

If you religiously wear blue or black denim, don’t let the idea of white denim scare you. They’re perfect for changing up your style, but without completely stepping out of your comfort zone. I admit, they can be a challenge to style as I find a lot of dark colours too harsh against a bright white. So, here are some of my go-to’s and suggestions!

WORK

I apologize if you have a corporate jobs, or work at a company that requires a strict dress code. This may look may not be very applicable to you.

Think patterns, florals, or anything bright to contrast the plain and simple white bottoms. This look, although I love, I am a hypocrite because I own close to nothing with patterns. I have very minimalist style, so the idea of anything beyond neutral colours is rare to find in my closet. Nevertheless, even a nice oversized button up or clean blouse would be perfect for the office. For a cute bonus, throw on an over-sized trench coat for the complete office attire.

WEEKEND

I’m a huge fan of wearing a lot of one solid colour. The trick to this is that the whites need to match…meaning no spills or tints of yellow in your outfit or you’ll look dirty! If you’re going to make it contrast, make it obvious. If you’re going for the matching white-on-white look…it better be white! This look is perfect for the weekend, because you can easily turn this look from day to evening, dressing it up or down however you please. As well, the simplicity of the outfit allows you to wear any colour or type of shoe!

WHATEVER

The bonus of wearing white denim is that (from a distance) they hardly look like jeans. Meaning you can easily play them up or down. As well, getting away with wearing a denim jacket or denim toned tops to conduct that classic Canadian Tuxedo look. I suggest pairing it with a lighter denim colour (for a less harsh contrast), but whatever you already have in your closet works! Personally, I own this oversized jacket from a couple years ago and it works well with the skinny bottoms.
